A1A | The Official & Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show

A1A – The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show was formed in 1991 when lead vocalist/guitarist Jeff Pike invited Scott Nickerson, founder of the first Jimmy Buffett Parrot Head Club, to join his already successful one-man tribute to Jimmy Buffett. In 1992, the band won a Jimmy Buffett Sound Alike Contest for Margaritaville Records, bringing them to the attention of Buffett and his organization. Starting in 1992, A1A was the first band to perform at and repeatedly headline the annual Jimmy Buffett ‘Meeting of The Minds’ Parrot Head Convention and many other national landmark yearly Parrot Head Events, which laid the foundation for the fundamental building and growth of the National Jimmy Buffett fan base, Parrot Head Club community and the Trop Rock and Coastal Americana Music genres as they are today. In 1993, A1A was invited to appear in Jimmy Buffett’s MTV Video, ‘Fruitcakes.’ In 1995, Jeff Pike performed with Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefer Band at Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta, Georgia. The show was recorded and released as “Jimmy Buffett’s Barometer Soup Radio Special.” This show still receives regular rotation on “Radio Margaritaville” on SiriusXM Radio. In 2016, A1A was honored to perform with Jimmy Buffett and Mac McAnally as their band in a private performance for State Dignitaries and some of Jimmy’s personal friends at The Masters in Augusta, Georgia. The energy, musicianship, excitement, and continuous honest dedication to preserving Jimmy Buffett’s legacy that has always surrounded a Jeff Pike and A1A performance are an experience and driving force that has helped the band remain the first, foremost, and longest-running Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show. Derrick Dove from South Georgia will open the evening: “Everybody has a rough time. Everybody has their own struggles, and sometimes it’s just not that easy to get over ‘em. The past few years have been rough. My father’s death, covid, and everything going on in the world right now. I was struggling for a long time and writing this new album helped me get thru it.” “Rough Time” released in 2023 & went #1 on the Blues Charts! The Wallflowers

The Wallflowers will perform at the Miller Theater on Wednesday, September 11! Derrick Dove & The Peacekeepers will open for The Wallflowers.  Rock ‘n’ roll is often hard to define, or even to find, in these fractured musical times. But to paraphrase an old saying, you know it when you hear it.  And you always hear it with the Wallflowers. For the past 30 years, the Jakob Dylan-led act has stood as one of rock’s most dynamic and purposeful bands – a unit dedicated to and continually honing a sound that meshes timeless songwriting and storytelling with a hard-hitting and decidedly modern musical attack. That signature style has been present through the decades, baked into the grooves of smash hits like 1996’s Bringing Down the Horse as well as more recent and exploratory fare like 2012’s Glad All Over.  Even so, in recent years, Dylan – the Wallflowers’ founding singer, songwriter and guitarist – has repeatedly stepped outside of his band, first with a pair of more acoustic and rootsy records, 2008’s Seeing Things and 2010’s Women + Country , and then with the 2018 film Echo in the Canyon and the accompanying soundtrack, which saw him collaborate with a host of artists classic and contemporary, from Neil Young and Eric Clapton to Beck and Fiona Apple.  For a complete list of upcoming events at the Miller Theater, visit millertheateraugusta.com/calendar and be sure to subscribe to our mailing list so you never miss an announcement!  SUPPORT THE MILLER
